Laci Humphrey was named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team on Thursday.

Former HBU pitcher Craig Ackerman was named as the new radio voice of the Houston Rockets. He makes the move 14 years after beginning his association with the club, beginning as an intern while at HBU.

Houston Baptist University Head Coach Ron Cottrell is pleased to announce the signing of post player Mario Flaherty.

The soccer playing field at Houston Baptist University has been named the Randy & Cheryl Sorrels Field in honor of the HBU alumni who made a generous contribution to the HBU soccer program.  The announcement was made by HBU President Robert B. Sloan Jr. and director of athletics Ron Cottrell.

Edinburg ---- Houston Baptist University finished off its first season of transition back to NCAA Division I, routing host University of Texas-Pan American 14-4 at the National Independent Tournament at Edinburg Stadium.

Edinburg --- Houston Baptist University staked itself to a 3-0 lead in the first but it was all downhill from there as Le Moyne University cruised past the Huskies 13-4 in the NCAA Division I National Independent Tournament at Edinburg Stadium.

Edinburg ---- Houston Baptist University rallied from a 5-0 deficit and went on to outlast New York Institute of Technology 11-8 on day two action of the NCAA Division I National Independent Tournament at Edinburg Stadium. HBU fell behind after three innings but a six-run fifth inning gave the Huskies the lead for good.
